Who we are
Unimeat is run by Unimeat Solutions Limited, a company in Kenya. We decide how your information is used, so under the Data Protection Act, 2019 we are the data controller.
This policy covers the Unimeat Android app, this website, and the sign-in site the Unimeat team uses to support you.
What we collect
When you use the app
- Your account: your name, phone number, email address, and password. We never store the password as plain text.
- Your business: business name, outlets, the staff you add, and the customers you add.
- Your records: the sales, stock counts, purchases, expenses, waste, and prices you enter.
- Payments: if you pay for Unimeat by M-Pesa, the amount, date, phone number, and transaction code. We never see your M-Pesa PIN.
- App details: the app version and a notification code for your phone, so we can send you app alerts.
When you visit this website
- This website does not use cookies or tracking tools.
- It remembers your light or dark choice in your own browser. That choice is not sent to us.
- Our web host keeps normal visit logs, such as IP address and time, to keep the site safe.
How we use it
- To run your account and show your sales, stock, costs, and profit.
- To let you and your staff record work for the right outlet.
- To send sign-in codes, password reset codes, and app alerts.
- To take payments and confirm them.
- To answer you when you ask for help.
- To keep Unimeat safe, find problems, and make it better.
- To follow the law, for example tax rules.
Who can see it
- You, and the staff you add. Staff see what their role allows.
- The Unimeat team, when they need to support your account.
- Service providers that help us run Unimeat, only for that job: our web and data host, Safaricom for M-Pesa payments, and Google Firebase for app alerts.
- The authorities, only when the law requires it.
We do not sell your information. We do not share your business records with other traders.
Keeping it safe
Your information is sent over a secure connection and stored on protected servers. Only people who need it can reach it. Keep your password private, and remove staff who no longer work for you. If we ever learn of a breach that puts you at risk, we will tell you and the Data Protection Commissioner as the law requires.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is open. If you close your account, we delete it or remove your name from it within a reasonable time. Some records, like payment records, may be kept longer when the law says so.
Your data rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you can ask us to:
- tell you what information we hold about you,
- give you a copy of it,
- correct anything that is wrong,
- delete it, when we no longer need it,
- stop using it for a purpose you object to.
Email info@unimeat.co.ke or call 0791 550 851. We may ask you to confirm who you are first.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner at odpc.go.ke.
Children
Unimeat is for businesses. It is not meant for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information about children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. When we make a big change, we will tell you in the app or by email. The date at the top shows the latest version.
